How Household budget works

It differs from an expense log because it assigns money before it is spent. Useful budgets include irregular annual costs and flexible categories rather than pretending every month will be identical.

A rupee example

With ₹1 lakh of monthly income, a family may assign ₹55,000 to essentials, ₹15,000 to irregular costs and ₹30,000 to goals before discretionary spending.

The example isolates one idea so the arithmetic is visible. Real outcomes can include taxes, fees, cash-flow timing and market movement that the simplified example does not model.

Why it matters for your family

A budget makes trade-offs explicit without turning every purchase into guilt. Review actual cash flow and adjust the plan when income or responsibilities change.
