How Household cash flow works

Positive cash flow means inflows exceed outflows for that period, but it does not prove the household is solvent or prepared. Timing matters when income is irregular and large bills arrive before cash is available.

A rupee example

Monthly inflows of ₹1.5 lakh and total outflows of ₹1.2 lakh leave ₹30,000 of positive cash flow that can fund goals or reserves.

The example isolates one idea so the arithmetic is visible. Real outcomes can include taxes, fees, cash-flow timing and market movement that the simplified example does not model.

Why it matters for your family

Cash-flow tracking shows whether a plan is executable. A high net worth cannot pay next week's bill if most wealth is illiquid and the bank balance is empty.
